I was most distressed and angry with Apple when I discovered that my expensive new (2016) MacBook Pro would not connect to my much-loved 2011 Apple LED Cinema Display. I hunted high and low and couldn't find a solution anywhere until I discovered this adapter. It arrived ahead of time and works perfectly! This adaptor did work as a USB-C to Display Port adaptor for my NEC SpectraView PA series display. The more expensive version from Apple did not. I'm impressed with the overall quality for the price paid and thrilled I can use it with my new MacBook Pro.

Just picked up two of these today, they work perfectly to connect my new HP Spectre x360 via one of its USB-C ports to a Dell U2715H via its DisplayPort jack through a Mini Displayport cable at 2560x1440 resolution output. No external power source needed. I first tried connecting my laptop to an Apple Thunderbolt monitor via its built-in Mini Displayport cable, but that didn't work. But the Dell monitor works perfectly. The adapter has a sleek design and small footprint, as you can see in the picture. And it's cost-effective. So very happy.

I used this adapter to connect a Dell XPS 13 Windows 10 computer USB-C port to a display cable (mini-display-port to ordinary display port) to a large Dell monitor. After adjusting settings on the computer, the external monitor works as expected.

It's a great cable for a great price. uns perfectly. Obviously a huge step up from DVI and I like it even better than HDMI. If you have the option, go DisplayPort and choose this cable.
